Bur Dubai Police have foiled a major robbery and arrested two suspects just hours before they attempted to flee the country with AED660,000 in stolen cash.

The swift operation recovered the full amount and prevented the culprits from escaping via Dubai International Airport.

Police were alerted after a local business reported the theft of AED660,000 from its premises. Within hours, an investigation team from Bur Dubai Police Station identified the suspects, tracked their movements, and coordinated with airport security to intercept them before departure.

Both suspects were arrested at the airport in possession of the stolen money, which was returned to its rightful owner.

Brigadier Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Acting Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, praised the officers for their speed, professionalism, and teamwork, saying the speedy response reflected Dubai Police’s ability to act decisively and protect community security.

He added that the force’s advanced technologies and coordinated communication systems were key to tracking the suspects and preventing their escape.

Brigadier Hareb urged members of the public and business owners to remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviour through Dubai Police’s official channels, the Police Eye service, the smart app, or the 901 non-emergency number, ensuring officers can respond swiftly to protect lives and property.
