Dubai announces free parking over Eid

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that all public parking will free, except for multi-storey car parks, from Ramadan 29 until Shawwal 3.

Fees will resume on Shawwal 4.

If the crescent moon is spotted on Monday, that would be the last day of Ramadan, and the first day of Eid Al Fitr will fall on Tuesday, April 9. Parking will then be free for five days until Shawwal 3, April 11, with parking fees restarting on Friday, April 12.

If the moon is not sighted, Ramadan will last 30 days making public parking free for six days, with fees reintroduced on Saturday, April 13.

The RTA announced its service and vehicle testing centres will also be closed from Ramadan 29 until Shawwal 3.

The Authority also advised of changes to its public transport timetables over the Eid holiday, including Dubai Metro which will run Saturday, April 6, 5 a.m. - 1:00 a.m. the next day. Sunday, April 7, 8:00 am - 1:00 am the next day. Monday to Saturday, April 8-13, 5:00 am - 1:00 am, next day, Sunday, April 14, 8:00 am - 12:00 midnight.
