159 beggars arrested in Abu Dhabi Police crackdown

A total of 159 beggars have been arrested in Abu Dhabi as part of a major crackdown on the illegal practice.

Police said the arrests were made between November 6 to December 12.

The authority has urged the public not to show sympathy to such individuals, and instead, donate to official charities.

It has also called on people to report beggars by calling 999.
