UAE ramps up assistance for flood-hit eastern coast

Authorities in Sharjah’s eastern region are continuing to assist those affected by flooding and water surges caused by Cyclone Kyarr.

Kalba is the worst-hit area, where around 30 homes have been evacuated and families moved to hotels as a precautionary measure.

They are expected to be able to return to their properties tomorrow when the water levels recede.

Meanwhile, teams from the police and municipality have been working round-the-clock to clear water-logged roads.

Kyarr has been downgraded to a tropical storm and is now heading towards Oman’s southwestern coast.
