The UAE has distributed 30,000 food baskets to Sudanese refugees in Uganda's Kiryandongo camp, benefiting nearly 100,000 displaced people.
This effort marks the second phase of the UAE’s humanitarian aid to refugees, which began in April.
The distribution was attended by UAE Ambassador to Uganda, Abdullah Al Shamsi, alongside Ugandan officials and civil society leaders, who commended the UAE’s role in aiding those in crisis.
Ambassador Al Shamsi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to international solidarity, emphasising its $100 million pledge to support humanitarian efforts in Sudan and neighbouring regions.
Future plans include drilling water wells and building health facilities to improve conditions in the camp.
Ugandan Minister Balam Byaruhagara praised the UAE’s ongoing initiatives, calling the aid a crucial step in easing the suffering of refugees.
The UAE remains committed in its efforts to support Sudanese refugees until stability is restored in their homeland.
