UAE condemns attacks on civilians in Sudan's El Fasher

@UAEMissionToUN/X Platform

The UAE has condemned the heinous attacks on civilians in El Fasher during the UN Security Council meeting on Sudan, calling it a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

During his remarks, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the UN, Mohamed Abushahab, called on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel.

He also emphasized the need for both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF to exercise full restraint, cease the targeting of civilians, and comply fully with their obligations under international humanitarian law.

The UAE also reaffirmed its steadfast solidarity with the Sudanese people, announcing an additional $100 million to support life-saving humanitarian efforts in El Fasher.

Abushahab repeated the UAE's calls for a humanitarian truce leading immediately to a permanent ceasefire, and for a transition process towards an independent civilian-led government
