The UAE has chaired an emergency meeting of the Arab League in Cairo to address recent Israeli decisions to expand settlements in the Palestinian territories.
The meeting, held at the level of Permanent Representatives at the League’s headquarters, focused on coordinating Arab and international efforts in response to the developments.
In his opening remarks, the UAE’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, strongly condemned illegal Israeli measures aimed at expanding settlements and imposing sovereignty in the occupied territories.
He said such actions fuel violence and instability in the region, and reaffirmed the UAE’s rejection of any violation of the Palestinian people’s rights.
Al Zaabi called for an immediate halt to settlement activity, warning that it undermines prospects for peace and coexistence.
He also urged the international community, including the United Nations and the Security Council, to take responsibility and act to stop practices that breach international law.
