COP28 UAE President-Designate Dr. Sultan Al Jaber met government officials and industry leaders in Goa, India on Friday, to discuss sustainable cooling, policy and clean energy.
Dr. Al Jaber attended the Clean Energy Ministerial and 8th Mission Innovation meeting (CEM14/MI-8), which was scheduled on the margins of the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting (ETMM).
At the high-level discussion on Sustainable Cooling during CEM14, he stressed the need for coordinated international action to deliver a collective response to the cooling challenge, and called on all countries to join the "Global Cooling Pledge" in the lead-up to COP28.
Dr. Al Jaber met with Chris Bowen, Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy, for a discussion on strengthening policies to achieve a strong mitigation outcome at COP28.
The President-Designate also met Nishimura Yasutoshi, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, to discuss the upcoming conference's priorities in addressing interlinked environmental, social and economic challenges.
Dr. Al Jaber met an array of industry leaders to discuss the goals of tripling global renewable energy capacity by 2030 and finding technology driven solutions to accelerating decarbonization of the current energy system.
