Amazon's 'expensive' coconut shell causes furore in India

After an unsuspecting egg got famous on instagram, winning the title for the "most liked picture", it's now the turn of a coconut shell to gain some online attention.

Amazon India's offer for "natural coconut shell cups" has left netizens shell-shocked.

Priced at INR 3,000 (roughly AED 155), the shell is undoubtedly the most expensive of its kind, with the seller even offering a 50 per cent discount and an instalment payment option.

Several people took to social media platforms to question why anyone would pay so much, when a coconut is available at a local market for as little as INR 20 (around AED 1).
