UAE strengthens intellectual property ties with Spain, Morocco

The UAE's Ministry of Economy and Tourism has signed two agreements with Spain and Morocco to strengthen cooperation in industrial property rights.

The two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office and Morocco’s Office of Industrial and Commercial Property will focus on patent registration, digital transformation and the use of AI.

It was formalised during the UAE participated in the Sixty-Sixth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council, highlighted that the collaboration represents a significant milestone in exchanging technical knowledge, streamlining registration procedures and adopting modern compliance standards.

The move aligns with the UAE’s strategy to expand international IP partnerships and strengthen its innovation infrastructure.
