Votes cast in Federal National Council Elections number nearly 80,000

Almost 80,000 people took part in the Federal National Council Elections 2015. According to national news agency WAM, women represented 48 per cent of total voters. There were three stages in the process, starting with polls at UAE embassies around the world, then an early voting period, followed by yesterday’s Election Day. 330 candidates contested the elections, including 74 women, and the results will be declared on October 11.
