UAE welcomes ceasefire in Suwayda, condemns Israeli escalation

WAM

The UAE has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Syria’s Suwayda Governorate, calling it a vital step toward de-escalation and the protection of civilians.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes in southern Syria, reaffirming its rejection of actions that violate Syria’s sovereignty and threaten regional stability.

The ministry emphasised the UAE’s firm support for Syria’s unity and its people’s aspirations for peace, security and development.

Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, described the latest developments as part of a new phase in shaping Syria’s future. He reaffirmed the UAE’s opposition to Israeli escalation and stressed that “Syria is not a battleground, but a central Arab country, whose strength, success and prosperity support the region’s stability.”
