UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamad bin Zayed Al Nahyan has held talks in Abu Dhabi with the Swiss President, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on the economy, investment and advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence.

His Highness met Guy Parmelin at Qasr Al Shati, congratulating him on his election for 2026, and reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to expanding cooperation between the two countries.

Discussions highlighted shared priorities in economic growth, investment and technology, as well as the role of artificial intelligence in addressing global challenges.

Both sides also underlined the importance of the Global AI Summit, scheduled to be hosted in Geneva in 2027 and the UAE in 2028, noting their joint commitment to harnessing AI for sustainable development and shared prosperity.

The leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues, stressing the need to promote peace and stability through dialogue and diplomatic solutions.

During the meeting, the two countries announced a memorandum of understanding establishing a joint economic committee between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade and Switzerland’s Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research.

A separate letter of intent was also agreed between the two foreign ministries to cooperate on water security and the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims to ensure access to clean water and sanitation for all.
