UAE leaders hail role of Emirati women in nation's success story

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has led social media messages to mark Emirati Women's Day.

Sheikh Mohamed praised Emirati women for their role in the development of the nation, tying the country's success to their achievements.

Emirati Women's Day is marked annually to celebrate the women of the nation and their achievements in arts, business, science and numerous other fields.

"The progress of the UAE has always been closely tied to the achievements of Emirati women and their pivotal role in strengthening our communities and contributing to our nation’s development," the UAE President said.

"As we celebrate #EmiratiWomensDay, the launch of the Mother of the Nation 50:50 Vision reaffirms our commitment to advancing together – hand in hand – in partnership towards the future."

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also took to social media to mark the occasion.

In a video post, Sheikh Mohammed said the entire nation celebrates Emirati women, describing "her as a nurturer of generations, a planter of values, and a partner in the journey of development... and a marker of change".

Sheikh Mohammed looked back with pride at the progress the Emirati women have made over 50 years, and remained optimistic about what the next 50 years hold for them under the framework of the 'Mother of the Emirates 50:50' vision.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, expressed pride in the "unwavering determination" of the Emirati women as they "shape the future".

"They nurture generations, foster compassion, bring blessings to every home, and contribute to achievements across every field," Sheikh Hamdan highlighted, hailing the efforts of the UAE leaders.

"May Emirati women continue to inspire and lead across all fields," he added.

Earlier this year, the UAE unveiled the official theme for Emirati Women’s Day as 'Hand in Hand, We Celebrate 50 Years'. It marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the General Women's Union in 1975 and reflects a national celebration of community partnership and the continuous achievements of Emirati women across five decades.

The “Mother of Nation 50:50 Vision” represents the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, to empower Emirati women to become a central partner in the UAE’s development journey and globally.

It reflects the UAE’s ambition for its women to become a global model of influence and inspiration and serves as a call for partnership, action, and innovation to ensure Emirati women’s presence at the heart of the future, in line with the UAE Centennial 2071 and confidently moving towards 2075.
