UAE President arrives in Oman on fraternal visit

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has arrived in Oman’s Salalah on a fraternal visit, a day after travelling to Qatar and Bahrain in the wake of Israel’s attack on Hamas leadership in Doha.

Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said welcomed Sheikh Mohamed upon his arrival at the Special Royal Airport.

Sheikh Mohamed's high-level delegation includes Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court.

The two sides are expected to discuss the latest regional escalation, with the Qatari leaders describing the Israeli attacks as "reckless".

Israel on Tuesday struck a building in Doha, targeting Hamas leadership who were discussing the latest ceasefire proposals.

The blasts were reportedly aimed at top Hamas leaders, including Khalil al-Hayya, its exiled Gaza chief and top negotiator, who survived the attempt. Five members of Hamas and a Qatari security officer were killed.

On Wednesday, Sheikh Mohamed held talks in Doha with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, stressing the UAE's steadfast support for all measures taken by Qatar to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the safety of its people.

In Bahrain, His Highness and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa condemned the attack and said it constitutes a flagrant violation of sovereignty and undermines prospects for peace.
