President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday spoke with leaders of Oman, France and Italy, amid regional escalation following the US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities.

During calls with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of the Sultanate of Oman, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Giorgia Meloni, Sheikh Mohamed discussed the escalation unfolding in the Middle East and its potential serious repercussions for regional security and stability.

The leaders stressed the need to spare the region and its peoples further crises and to safeguard regional peace and stability.

Earlier, Sheikh Mohamed held talks with the leaders of Qatar and Kuwait and Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince.

All sides urged the parties involved in the conflict "to apply wisdom, prioritise dialogue and peaceful solutions, exercise maximum restraint and avoid further escalation".
