On the occasion of Union Pledge Day, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has reaffirmed the nation's dedication to unity, progress and honouring the legacy of its founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

On a statement posted on social media platform X on Friday, Sheikh Mohamed shared the significance of the day, celebrating the history of the Founding Father and the other rulers who worked together to establish the Union.

The President emphasised that unity remains the source of the UAE’s strength and the cornerstone of its continued advancement.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also commemorated the historic moment on a post stating that the founders shared a vision, aligning their hearts, efforts and resources to create a powerful, unifying force in the Arab world. He also highlighted the commitment to carry forward their legacy with the same spirit and determination, aiming for global achievements in the future.

Union Pledge Day, observed every year on July 18, was officially established in 2024 following a declaration by Sheikh Mohammed.

It is one of the most important days in the history of the UAE, as the declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution were signed and its name was announced, with a base for its establishment laid on 2nd December.

It commemorates the country’s journey toward unity and pays tribute to the vision, leadership and collective will that laid the foundations of the UAE.
