UAE condemns storming of Kuwaiti consulate in Basra

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the acts of vandalism and sabotage targeting the Consulate General of Kuwait and the accompanying attacks, in Basra in Iraq.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the UAE's categorical rejection of such acts of sabotage, emphasising the need to protect diplomatic missions and their personnel in accordance with international laws and norms, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees full inviolability to diplomatic premises and their staff.

The Ministry called upon the government of Iraq to fulfill its legal obligations to secure the consulate and its staff, to investigate the circumstances of the attacks, to ensure they are not repeated, and to take all necessary legal measures to hold the perpetrators accountable.
