UAE condemns Nigeria attack that killed 150 civilians

Wam

The UAE has condemned an attack on a village in north-central Nigeria that killed over 150 people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its "permanent rejection of all forms of extremism and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability" and extended its condolences to the families of the victims.

Gunmen stormed a Benue state’s Yelewata community, opening fire on villagers who were asleep and setting their homes ablaze, killing scores of people.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but attacks in the northern region of Nigeria are common but have ramped up recently. Local herders and farmers often clash over limited access to land and water.
