UAE condemns attack on WFP aid convoy in Sudan

WAM

The UAE has strongly condemned an attack on a World Food Programme humanitarian convoy in Sudan’s North Kordofan state, which killed and injured several people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack is a clear violation of international law and stressed that aid workers must be protected, with humanitarian assistance never politicised or used as a weapon.

The UAE renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire, unimpeded humanitarian access, and a civilian-led transition process independent of all warring parties.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Sudanese people, highlighting a recent $500 million humanitarian pledge and its position as the second-largest donor to Sudan since the conflict began in 2023.
