Ras Al Khaimah police have rescued a group of hikers who became stuck in rugged mountain terrain.

The head of Ras Al Khaimah Police Air Wing unit, Colonel Tayar Abdullah Ali Al-Shahi, said the Operations Room received a call indicating there were three people at an altitude of 4000 feet who became stuck while walking in a mountainous area of the emirate.

Ras Al Khaimah police describe the three people as being of European citizenship and say no injuries were reported.

Colonel Al-Shahi said they deployed a police helicopter in the rescue effort to transport the climbers to safety.

He reiterated the need for those exploring mountainous areas to exercise caution at all times.
