New energy and water projects worth AED 5.8 billion have been approved for the UAE’s Northern Emirates.

More dams will be built, while the region will also get a federal water network linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

A solar power station and a water desalination plant will also be constructed in Umm Al Quwain as part of the ambitious plan.

They are the latest in a series of development schemes for the region, announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
