Sharjah has approved a new leave policy for female staff in the public sector to help them care for their newborns.
Called "Care Leave", it will help new mothers stay at home to care for babies with medical conditions or disabilities.
The new leave policy was approved by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Once approved by the relevant authority, the leave will commence after the end of maternity leave.
Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, made the formal announcement during a phone call on the "Direct Line" programme broadcast on Sharjah Radio and Television.
