Police in Abu Dhabi have thanked the public for their cooperation during Tuesday's Papal Mass.

Extensive traffic plans and road closures were in place as Pope Francis appeared before thousands of worshippers at the Zayed Sports City Stadium.

It was the first-ever Papal Mass held in the Arabian Peninsula.

More than 170,000 people from all over the UAE and neighbouring countries witnessed the historic event.
