Man drowns while trying to rescue wife in Sharjah

Sharjah Police are investigating the circumstances of the death of a man who died while trying to rescue his wife from drowning off Al Mamzar beach.

Emergency response teams were quick to reach the scene after the incident was reported to the Central Operations Room on Sunday night.

Teams from Sharjah Police and the Marine Rescue Unit of Sharjah Civil Defence were able to save the Asian woman while the husband's body was later recovered from the sea.

Sharjah Police said the man died while trying to rescue his wife but further investigations are underway.

The authority has urged the public to avoid swimming in the sea during fluctuating weather, especially at night.
