Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the UAE President, on Thursday said the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran marks a pivotal moment with far-reaching consequences to both, and the wider region.
The official added that “reason and foresight” demand an immediate end to the hostilities and a return to political dialogue, as “past wars in the region clearly teach us”.
Gargash echoed similar calls by other UAE officials and institutions, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urging the UN Security Council to take urgent measures to restore security.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, warned against the dangers of taking "ill-considered and reckless steps" that could cross the borders of both countries.
"Swift action is necessary towards a clear goal: an immediate halt to what is happening before things get out of control," the top diplomat said.
