Five killed in Ajman car crash following NYE celebrations

Five members of a family died in a traffic accident in Ajman while returning home after New Year's Eve celebrations in the early hours of Monday, January 1.

According to Ajman Police, an Emirati couple, their two daughters and a niece were killed when their vehicle crashed into a truck on Al Watan Road in the Masfout area.

Two other young girls from the same family suffered moderate injuries and were transferred to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital for treatment.

All of them were heading home after attending New Year's Eve festivities in Hatta.

"Emergency response teams rushed to the site after the police operations room was notified about the accident at 1:00 am. Initial investigations found the family's SUV hit the rear of a truck as the driver was distracted," Ajman Police said in a statement.
