Dubai steps up Ramadan road safety efforts

Taxi drivers, delivery riders and workers are the focus of a new Ramadan road safety drive in Dubai, aimed at reducing accidents during the holy month.

The campaign, launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), will see 40,000 awareness leaflets distributed with Iftar meals and Ramadan gifts at several locations across the emirate, in partnership with government and private sector entities.

The initiative promotes safe driving habits at a time when fatigue and reduced concentration can increase risks on the road.

The RTA is also using digital awareness tools to reach a wider audience and encourage responsible behaviour throughout the year.

Ahmed Al Khzaimy, Director of Traffic at the RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, urged motorists to reflect the values of Ramadan by adhering to traffic rules, respecting other road users and avoiding driving while tired or drowsy.
