Dubai Police urge vigilance over children’s online gaming

With summer vacation in full swing and children spending more time on video gaming, Dubai Police are urging parents to step up supervision to protect kids from online dangers.

The Cybercrime Department, part of Dubai Police’s General Department of Criminal Investigation, is warning families about the dangers children may face in online gaming—from exposure to harmful content and cyberbullying, to potential contact with online predators or scammers.

Authorities stress the importance of family supervision as the first line of defence. Parents are being advised to activate parental controls, monitor gaming habits, check age-appropriate content, and limit screen time.

They also urge parents to teach children not to share personal information or speak with strangers during gameplay.

The Cybercrime Department is also promoting Dubai Police’s educational e-platform, which offers tips and resources in Arabic and English to help families stay informed and safe online.

Any suspected online crime can be reported through the Dubai Police app, website, the e-Crime platform, or by calling 901.
