Dubai Humanitarian dispatches more earthquake relief to Afghanistan

Dubai Media Office

In response to the recent earthquake in Afghanistan, Dubai Humanitarian has dispatched a second relief airlift to the country in less than a week.

The mission was carried out under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The flight, organised through the Global Humanitarian Impact Fund, took off from Dubai on Sunday carrying 39.8 metric tonnes of emergency aid.

The shipment, provided by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, includes tents, household items and essential medical supplies.

The cargo, valued at more than $315,000 (AED 1.16 million) is expected to help over 50,000 people in some of the hardest-hit areas.

This follows an earlier airlift last Monday, which delivered 84 tonnes of aid on behalf of four UN agencies.
