Dubai enhances traffic safety in 10 school zones

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed major traffic improvements at 10 school zones across the city, benefiting 27 schools.

The upgrades were carried out during the summer break in areas including Al Warqa 1, 3 and 4, Al Safa 1, Al Barsha 1, Al Garhoud, Al Mizhar 1 and 4, Al Qusais and Al Barsha South.

Key enhancements include wider roads, new entrances and exits, additional parking for staff and parents, and pedestrian safety features like signals and traffic-calming measures.

The changes have already made a difference, with some areas seeing traffic flow improve by up to 40 per cent and parking capacity boosted by 90 per cent.

The RTA says these efforts reflect its commitment to safe, efficient mobility in line with Dubai’s rapid growth, and there is more to come.

Work is ongoing in areas like Umm Al Sheif, Al Warqa, Al Barsha 1 and Al Barsha South, with a full traffic management plan developed in coordination with Dubai Police.

The RTA is also urging parents and bus drivers to follow safety rules, use designated drop-off zones, and stay alert around schools to help maintain a safe environment for students.
