Dubai Customs foils 1.2 tonnes drug smuggling attempt

Dubai Customs has successfully intercepted 1.2 tonnes of psychoactive substances at the emirate’s air cargo terminal, preventing a major smuggling attempt.

Specialized teams used advanced technologies and thorough inspection methods to uncover the prohibited materials, confirming their mind-altering nature.

Legal action is now underway in coordination with relevant authorities.

Sultan bin Sulayem, CEO of DP World and Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, praised the effectiveness of smart technologies and the expertise of the customs inspectors.

Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, highlighted the operation as part of global efforts to combat organized smuggling networks and protect public safety.

Dubai Customs continues to enhance its staff’s training and access to cutting-edge tools, ensuring the highest standards of security and efficiency in tackling cross-border crimes.
