As many as 1,195 vehicles were confiscated in Dubai last year for illegal engine modifications and causing noise pollution.

Dubai Police also issued a total of 4,533 fines for similar offences.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic said that police patrols are active across the emirate, focused on tackling reckless behaviour that pose a major risk to road users.

"Since the beginning of 2023, we have seized 250 vehicles and fined 327 motorists for illegal engine modifications, and impounded 19 vehicles and fined 230 others for noise pollution," Brig. Suwaidan added.

He urged parents to closely monitor their children's actions and educate them on the potential consequences of dangerous driving habits.

The penalty for illegal vehicle modifications is a AED 1,000 fine and 12 black points, while the vehicle will be impounded for 30 days.
