Drones to help Abu Dhabi in exploring oil reserves

WAM

Abu Dhabi is turning to drones to search for new oil and gas resources.

The unmanned devices will be used for deploying sensors to collect seismic data.

Experts say it’s a safer, quicker and more cost-effective way of getting high-resolution images of the subsurface.

A pilot project has been launched by ADNOC and Total, for the first time in the region.

Successful trials of the technology called Multiphysics Exploration Technologies Integrated System (METIS) has already been conducted by Total in Papua New Guinea in 2017.
