Sharjah Police have arrested a motorist who racked up 137 traffic violations and fines totalling over AED 104,000, all while using forged licence plates to evade detection.

The arrest was made after advanced surveillance systems identified the vehicle, which had deliberately mismatched plates to avoid traffic enforcement.

Officials say the violations also carried 308 black points, and the car had an outstanding impoundment period of more than 764 days.

Colonel Omar Mohammed Bu Ghanem, Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, said the operation was the result of close coordination between field units and the Command and Control Room.

He warned that tampering with licence plates is not only a traffic offence but a criminal act, and stressed that Sharjah Police will continue to crack down on such dangerous behaviour.
