Covid-19: UAE sends second aid plane to Syria

WAM

The UAE has sent 25 tonnes of aid to Syria, to help reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

The aircraft carrying medical supplies and equipment arrived in Damascus on Friday.

Working with the Emirates Red Crescent and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, this is the second batch of medical aid the UAE has sent to the country.

The first plane arrived on Sunday, part of the UAE’s international humanitarian response to the global pandemic.

Dr Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC, said, the UAE is exerting significant efforts to help friendly countries overcome the current health crisis and support them in reinforcing their health capacities.

The relief support will help assist front-line medical staff and their efforts to contain the virus in Syria.
