The foreign ministers of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and Egypt said it was important to "deal seriously and positively" with US President Joe Biden's proposal aimed at reaching a ceasefire in Gaza.
They held a virtual meeting to discuss the proposal alongside US-Qatari-Egyptian mediation efforts to secure the release of hostages and detainees that would lead to a permanent ceasefire and sufficient entry of aid into the Gaza Strip.
The ministers stressed the need to stop the Israeli aggression against Gaza and ensure the return of displaced people to their areas.
They also called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the launch of a reconstruction process with a comprehensive plan to implement the two-state solution based on UN Security Council resolutions, and with specific timelines and binding guarantees.
The Arab foreign ministers reiterated their support for the two-state solution, with an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1976, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
