Customs officers in Abu Dhabi have foiled separate smuggling attempts of more than 30,000 bottles of alcohol and 8,000 pills. According to the national news agency WAM, the bottles had been hidden in crates labelled as apples to be transported by a lorry headed into Saudi Arabia. The pills, meanwhile, were found in the belongings of an Arab bus passenger during a routine inspection at the border. Both suspects have been arrested and their cases have been referred to the relevant authorities.
