Abu Dhabi conducts exercise to enhance marine water protection efforts

Abu Dhabi Media Office

The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has conducted a crucial exercise involving 16 government entities to assess their readiness to respond to threats such as red tide and fish kills in the emirate.

During the simulation, participants reviewed multiple scenarios and emphasised the importance of activating a general response plan for red tide events and fish deaths.

The exercise focused on improving teamwork, clarifying roles, and boosting skills across relevant agencies.

Key objectives included ensuring readiness of assets and resources, testing response mechanisms, and evaluating the efficiency of information-sharing systems.

Additionally, the exercise aimed to enhance the overall quality of emergency planning and recovery processes, measuring the effectiveness and speed of responses to incidents.

Suggestions included fostering collaboration between public and private sectors, adopting modern water treatment technologies, and raising community awareness about marine conservation.
