Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has confirmed the safety of Perrier water products in the UAE.
The regulatory body reassured consumers that it is taking all necessary measures and procedures to prevent any unsafe and unhealthy products from reaching the emirate's markets.
The statement came after Perrier parent company Nestlé told French media that it had destroyed stocks as a "precautionary measure" after the possible presence of fecal bacteria in a well in southern France's Vergèze, which was recently flooded.
ADAFSA reiterated that all food products sold in the local market are subject to strict control throughout the supply chain. Food, whether locally produced or imported from abroad, are subject to strict controls at various ports, and no product is allowed to be sold unless it meets the approved specifications.
In addition, inspection and sampling of food products are regularly conducted to ensure that the food product is fit for consumption.
