93,000 UAE drivers fined for worn out tyres

NULL

Drivers of vehicles with worn out tyres could see their car or truck impounded for a week by Abu Dhabi Police. Officers have already seized more than 93,000 vehicles over the last three years, with drivers facing fines of AED 200. Police say good tyres dramatically reduce accidents. Deaths caused by blow-outs are down by nearly 60%, and injuries by 30% over the last five years in Abu Dhabi alone. According to officials, there have been 7% less accidents due to burst tyres over the last ten months, compared with the same period last year.
