Warning issued after 25 injured in 4 vehicle collision on Jebel Ali Road

Dubai Police

Dubai Police have issued a warning after three vehicles crashed into a bus that had broken down on Jebel Ali Road, leaving 25 people injured.

Initial investigations revealed that a bus stopped suddenly due to a technical fault and two buses and a vehicle on the same lane failed to brake in time, resulting in a collision.

The wounded are being treated for minor to serious injuries, Dubai Police said.

Without disclosing the time of the accident, Brigadier Essam Ibrahim Al Awar, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, said traffic patrols responded swiftly to secure the site, facilitate rescue operations and manage traffic flow.

He noted that sudden stopping of cars due to breakdowns, fuel shortages or tyre bursts are a leading cause of fatalities on Dubai roads, urging motorists to contact the police immediately so that necessary measures can be taken. “These measures include activating hazard warning lights, ensuring the safety of the driver and passengers first, placing a warning triangle behind the vehicle at a safe distance where possible to alert approaching drivers, leaving the vehicle entirely and moving to a safe location away from the road, and finally contacting the police,” he explained.

Under the UAE traffic laws, stopping in the middle of the road carries a fine of AED 1,000 and six black points, in addition to a AED 500 fine for obstructing traffic.
