DP World has welcomed the world’s largest and most eco-friendly car carrier, MV Höegh Sunrise, to Jebel Ali Port for the first time.
The Aurora-class vessel is built with a zero-carbon ready design, and can run on future fuels like ammonia and methanol.
It's capable of transporting up to 9,100 cars while cutting emissions by 58 per cent per vehicle compared to current industry standards.
The Höegh Sunrise arrived from Europe carrying 1,200 vehicles. A special plaque ceremony marked its maiden call, with senior officials from DP World and Höegh Autoliners in attendance.
DP World says the arrival highlights Dubai’s growing status as a global hub for automotive trade and sustainable logistics.
In 2024, the company handled a record 1.3 million vehicles in Dubai — a 53 per cent jump from the previous year.
To keep pace with rising demand, DP World recently opened a massive new vehicle storage yard at Terminal 4 and is developing what will be the world’s largest auto market, spanning 20 million square feet.
