Dubai has cemented its position as a top maritime hub, earning the title 'Crown Jewel of the Middle East’s Maritime Sector' in the 2025 International Shipping Centre Development Index.

Published by China’s Xinhua News Agency in collaboration with the Baltic Exchange, the report ranks Dubai first in the Arab region and among the top-five globally for shipping excellence.

The report highlights Dubai’s robust maritime ecosystem, from shipbuilding and repair to advanced navigation services, and praises the Dubai Maritime Transport Plan 2030, aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, CEO of the Dubai Maritime Authority, says the ranking reflects visionary leadership, strong public-private coordination, and a commitment to world-class standards in shipping and logistics.

Jebel Ali Port was spotlighted for its strategic role and record-breaking performance, handling 15.5 million containers last year — the highest since 2015.

Sustainability efforts at the port include biofuel use, solar energy and electric vehicles, cutting emissions by 2,000 tonnes annually.

Captain Ibrahim Al Blooshi, Executive Director of Dubai Ports Authority, says the recognition cements Dubai’s global standing and underlines its resilience despite global market challenges.
