The region's first nuclear power plant will provide 25 per cent of the UAE's electricity needs in the future.

That's according to Christer Viktorsson, Director General at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), who spoke to Dubai Eye 103.8's Business Breakfast.

The country’s nuclear regulator issued the operating licence for Unit 1 of the facility, located at Barakah in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region on Sunday.
