His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, attended the opening of the 28th Universal Postal Congress, which is being held in Dubai under the theme 'Leading Change, Creating the Future'.

The major international event runs until September 19 and brings together delegations from 192 member countries of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

Co-hosted by the UPU and 7X, the UAE’s official representative to the Union, the Congress aims to shape the future of global postal and logistics services.

During his visit, Sheikh Ahmed toured the UAE Pavilion, which showcases the country’s journey from handwritten letters to cutting-edge digital postal systems. He also signed a commemorative stamp marking the UAE’s hosting of the Congress.

The opening session was led by Badr Al-Olama, Chairman of 7X, and saw the election of Tariq Ahmed Al Wahedi, Group CEO of 7X, as Chair of the Congress.

Key topics on the agenda include postal innovation, global strategy and strengthening the sector’s role in sustainability and digital transformation.

The Congress will also adopt the 'Dubai Strategy', a new roadmap for 2026 to 2029 focused on service quality, digital acceleration, inclusivity and sustainability.

With over 2,200 participants attending in person and online, the Congress highlights the UAE’s growing role as a global logistics hub and its ability to deliver a seamless hybrid experience.
