New smart app launched to support visually impaired indoors

The world’s first indoor navigation application to help the visually impaired has been launched by an Emirati company. Bin Farooq PGE Innovations ‘Loud Steps’ app, enables physical spaces to interact with people. It tells the user where they are, where the can go and what lies ahead, using specially designed network devices and wireless signals. 400,000 people in the UAE are visually impaired, 40,000 of whom are totally blind, and the system has been made in order to support Dubai’s disability-friendly and smart city visions.
