Australia edged England by two wickets to win the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston.

Chasing a 281 victory target, Australia began a rain-delayed fifth day on 107 for three, and scored 282-8 on their way to a thrilling win.

Captain Pat Cummins (44) and Nathan Lyon (16) held on late in the innings to set up the win, while opener Usman Khawaja (65) was their top scorer.

The second match in the series is at Lords next week.
