This may come as a surprise, but women in Dubai are being urged to get more sun. Doctors are warning against the over-use of sunscreen as UAE residents suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. At the recent “Bright Start Conference” in Abu Dhabi, doctors and healthcare professionals explained the need to get more vitamin D. Despite living in one of the hottest countries on earth, experts believe an office culture means certain sections of the community aren’t getting sun and recommended women in particular should aim to enjoy at least 30 minutes of sun each week. They also warned against relying solely on supplements. Doctor Human Fatemi, Medical Director at IVI Clinic has expressed the need for woman in particular to get around 15 to 20 minutes of sunshine a day. He told ARN News that wearing sunscreen can restrict the body’s ability to absorb vital vitamins, which can also affect female fertility.
