WAM

The total value of foreign aid provided by the UAE from the start of 2021 to mid-August 2022 amounted to AED 13 billion.

According to data issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), Yemen accounted for the bulk of the Emirati foreign aid (over AED 1.16 billion).

Several Arab, Asian and Western countries have also benefitted from the projects, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the UAE's humanitarian programmes around the world.

These projects span a wide range of sectors, with public programmes accounting for the largest share (over AED 4.54 billion), followed by the health sector (AED 2.56 billion), programmes aimed at providing various commodities (AED 1.99 billion), social services (AED 1.31 billion) and education (AED 547 million).

Funds were also allocated to transport and storage sector (AED 414 million), programmes aimed at supporting peace and security (AED 273 million), water and public health services sector (AED 268 million), government and civil society initiatives (AED 224 million), energy services (AED 212 million), and initiatives aimed at supporting the agricultural sector (AED 184 million).

The UAE has become a model of sustainable relief and humanitarian work, by replacing conventional relief operations with development projects that benefit communities, such as those that construct houses, schools, roads and power stations and dig wells.

The country has implemented a clear methodology that does not discriminate based on political orientation.
